In the foreground we see lush vegetation, depicted in a mixture of darker tones of red and green, the plants and foliage are depicted as relatively tall and rich, suggesting on the one hand a vibrant natural environment and on the other hand an obstacle to be overcome.
A small house appears in the background of the painting in contrast to the living vegetation. Its size emphasises the theme of distance or remoteness. It acts as a focal point, symbolizing the notion of "home" as a distant ideal or an elusive sense of belonging. The presence of the house in the background enhances the longing and yearning that permeate the entire painting.
Overall, "Longing for Home" invites reflection on the themes of longing, belonging and the complex emotions associated with longing for a place to call home. Darker hues, vibrant vegetation and a small, remote home combine to evoke a contemplative atmosphere that resonates with our own emotions and experiences.
How to work with encaustic images:
Encaustic itself gives one the ability to see further in the end result than the original intention. It is similar to life, or the journey of self-discovery, when we try to discern what is beneath the surface and what is not apparent at first glance.
The short description of the picture can be a clue, but you don't have to be influenced by it at all.If the picture speaks to you, it means that only you can decode the hidden meaning it holds for you.Just find a moment of peace and concentrate on the picture in silence or with relaxing music. We will do a short breathing exercise (deep breath in,hold for 5 seconds and slow breath out 7 times in total). And allow the thoughts and insights to flow freely into our field of consciousness.
Write down all thoughts, feelings, physical sensations in a journal for future reference.
